IT’S ONE THING TO PHOTOGRAPH SOMEONE.

IT’S ANOTHER TO SHOW WHO THEY ARE.

I have been doing this for a long time. Hundreds and hundreds of kids. It is one of the most rewarding parts of being a photographer, especially when years later someone walks up and introduces their husband and kid to me and remembers their senior shoot!

A few things I have learned a long the way:

  • Book your session in the summer before school starts. It gets much busier after that with sports, band and other activities. There are only so many hours in the day and the later you wait, the sooner it gets dark.

  • Fall leaves are the #1 request but each year they are a moving target and sometimes the unpredictable weather where we live ruins it completely. Pick a date sooner than later if this is what you want.

  • Don’t be afraid to bring props of your hobbies or sports gear. Show who you are!
